No. Maybe I'll try that. I figured using a phone was easier than a computer though :) Maybe not.

When I have had things done by Bilenky, I just show up w/ the frame and bang on the door!:) That said I have found Steven (The owner) to be very friendly and very interested in helping me. I did have someone answer the phone one time that was not real helpful. I have also e-mailed Steven and he responds very quickly.

For someone that can make it a local pickup, there is a pretty decent Trek 820 frame with fork with a BIN of $29.99; Lancaster, PA. $50 shipping, so the value quickly goes away if you have it shipped (should be able to get a complete bike for $100 or so). But if you need a frame, and its local, pretty decent deal.

Item #250346334876. Or just do a search: Trek 820 frame

Anybody in LA want a real cool old Shogun MTB for $100, 22" frame? Posting is from 3 days ago but is still up.

That's the top-end Motobecane, but that's a replacement fork, so it shouldn't go for the same price as an all-original Team Champion in the same condition-- whatever that price would be.

Hmm,, gonna have to take a close look at it when I go over. In any event, it would make a nice stable mate for my Grand Record.:thumb:

Check the frame closely for any bumps behind the headtube , replacement fork could indicate a frontal impact.

That'll be the first thing I look at. In the post the guy claims that the paint had been removed years ago, and you can see what seems to be a little orange over-spray on the fork stem, but why would someone take the time to strip the paint on just the fork?:wtf:

Older Schwinn Sierra mountain bike. I have one like this. Black chrome finish and a dirt drop stem.

It makes me sad when they won't ship to the US. This will go for a song.

Unknown Schwinn for $150.

And something with a serious "Not even FAIR" factor
1990 Miyata 1000LT for $800. The thing seems nicely upgraded and well maintained. For the prices those command on eBay, seems like a steal in my book. It's my size too *grumbles*

Now that I've started searching CL for vintage MTBs, I'm realizing that there are a bunch of them out there going for really cheap.

Here's an '86 Trek 850 for $80 in Boulder CO:
http://boulder.craigslist.org/bik/960645191.html

And here's a mid-80s Raleigh Seneca, triple butted main tubes, in Winston-Salem NC for $70. The ad is old but I just emailed the guy last week and he still has it, so he may be willing to deal:

Nice straight Peugeot px-10 frame and fork, no paint copper plated lugs, plating is kinda thin not too great. Made with reynolds 531 tubing and long simplex dropouts. Great bike wit nice relaxed geometry, the px-10 was peugeots top of the line frame in the sixties something like five tours de france wins. Fork has been repaired but is perfectly straight and solid, has a pea sized dent in top tube some remnants of old paint and superficial rust on unpainted frame, but structurally very sound. I think it's a 61cm seat tube cc and i think the spacing is about 120. Makes for a killer city bike. if you want to do chrome lugs most of the work is done for you, they look great. 925-256-7641.

Not sure if this is vintage, not sure about the price.

That seller from Waterford seems to have a lot of bikes for sale. And he seems miffed that no one is buying. Such as this ad: http://detroit.craigslist.org/bik/967750733.html

I wish I could give bikes away but I can't. I have purchased these 100 dollar and under bikes and I honestly know you get garbage. Your going to have to do something to it. Show me a guys bike this nice for a hundred dollars. You won't find them. You get what you pay for. Honestly come look at it and you will see what I am talking about.
The bike is absolutely beautiful. It is a 66 Collegeate 5 speed. All original with Schwinn 26" x 1 3/8 tires and a 26" frame. Front and rear hand brakes. Generator lights works. Your not going to find many of these this nice. Needs nothing.

Several of his ads read similarly, wherein he states what he paid for it and how much the tires cost, plus his time tuning it. And that he didn't get it from the garbage.
