10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (2024)

Is there anything better than giant robots? There’s basically no better power fantasy than being at the controls of an enormous engine of destruction, casually smashing buildings with your armored fists while simultaneously sending a stream of missiles and laser blasts at anything that dares opposes your awesome might.

That feeling only gets better as the mechs get bigger. That’s why we’ve compiled this list of the biggest mechs to be found in video games, so you can properly gauge the feeling of immensity you’ll get by playing them. Read on to discover the ten biggest mechs in video games.

10 Titanfall 2 - BT-7274

10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (1)

More than seven years on, Titanfall 2 is still an impressive first-person shooter experience. It comes as no surprise that Titanfall’s successor, Apex Legends, is still going strong. What was surprising, however, is how Titans basically disappeared from the Titanfall universe as Apex Legends took over.

A shame too, since Titanfall’s Titans are great giant mechs, and BT-7274 is perhaps the best among them. Only around four times the height of the average human (or roughly 24 feet), BT-7274 might not be the biggest mech on this list, but it’s certainly the friendliest.

10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (2)

The president’s mech, Metal Wolf, is a massive machine that’s about the size of a bus. We know this because the president chews through most of the US military in his quest to halt a coup from overthrowing the free world.

Although possessing enormous firepower, Metal Wolf is still basically the same size as the tanks and helicopters exploding around it. Perhaps the best example of size not being everything, but we can definitely go bigger.

8 Front Mission 1st: Remake - Wanzer

10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (3)

Like Daemon X Machina, Front Mission's Wanzers are customizable to become larger or smaller depending on the parts assigned by the player. They're all pretty big, though, averaging around 5.5 meters tall (18 feet) at about 25 tons in mass. That's big enough to tear through a building without necessarily being larger than one.

The Zenith, pictured above, is one of the larger Wanzers available, standing at 5.8 meters tall. It's also the poster mech of the franchise, having been in every Front Mission game except for Front Mission Alternative.

7 Daemon X Machina - Arsenal

10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (4)

Daemon X Machina might not have the same sort of discrete mech classes as Titanfall 2, but they're all pretty big, and you can make them larger by customizing your Arsenal's parts. Of the various corporations and nations that provide Arsenal components, the Liberator armors from Horizon are probably the bulkiest, turning your mech into a hulking armored titan.

It's not recommended to use the Liberator set exclusively, though. Daemon X Machina is a game where speed and maneuverability count more than out-and-out staying power.

6 Armored Core - Project Phantasma

10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (5)

Much like Daemon X Machina, the player’s Armored Core can be customized to be a variety of sizes, but the largest ones come from Armored Core 2 where ACs could range from 30 to 40 feet. However, the largest mech in that game is probably the end boss, Project Phantasma.

We don’t have a concrete value for Project Phantasma’s overall size, but given how large it appears compared to the player, it must be truly massive.

5 Into the Breach - Pitcher Mech

10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (6)

Into the Breach is another game where we don’t have the exact size of each mech, but we do know they’re all pretty big. The biggest of them is probably the Pitcher Mech, which is designed to pick up and throw enemy units. And since those units tend to be giant alien monsters, the Pitcher Mech is likely very, very large.

It also starts with four health points--the only mech in the game with such a high health score. This likely indicates that it’s just a bit larger than your other options.

4 Sonic & Knuckles - Giant Eggman Robo

10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (7)

You don't actually get to play as Giant Eggman Robo, Dr. Robotnik's giant robot boss enemy seen in Sonic & Knuckles, but you do get to fight it as Sonic. And given how Sonic is many times smaller than the Giant Eggman, we can safely assume that this Robotnik-built mech is huge.

If you still don't believe it, just watch Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (the movie, not the game) and you'll get a better idea of just how massive this boss truly is. It's no wonder that Sonic needs all the Chaos Emeralds in order to defeat this behemoth.

3 Brigador - Rat King

10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (8)

Brigador’s mechs range in size from smaller machines no bigger than a hatchback to massive engines of wanton destruction. The Rat King can be seen towering above Brigador’s cyberpunk city streets at least as tall as a five-story building, and maybe even bigger than that.

If you haven’t tried Brigador, you really should. It’s a slightly more casual giant mech game than most, but you get all the enjoyment of smashing buildings and blowing up tanks while watching the destruction from a third-person perspective.

2 Star Wars - AT-AT

10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (9)

The Imperial All-Terrain Armored Transport is a four-legged armored giant designed to carry a platoon of Storm Troopers while simultaneously providing artillery support with its heavy laser cannon turrets. The AT-AT is perhaps the most prominent example of the Empire’s military might outside the Star Destroyer or the Death Star.

AT-ATs are also huge, being many stories tall. This actually works against them as they’re not particularly sturdy and can be easily toppled by a speeder with strong wire. The bigger they are, the harder they fall, as they say.

1 MechWarrior 5 - Atlas

10 Biggest Mechs In Video Games (10)

If you want big robots, it doesn't get any bigger than BattleTech, the original home of giant mechanized warfare. There are hundreds of 'Mechs to choose from, but it doesn't get any more iconic than the 100-ton Atlas.

Appearing in every MechWarrior game since MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries, as well as MechCommander, MechAssault, and 2018's BattleTech from Harebrained Schemes, the Atlas is the undisputed king of the battlefield.
